Saltire boosts support for families this Christmas

Saltire has increased its support in local communities to help some of the families hit hardest by the pandemic this winter, including another bumper donation to the Mission Christmas appeal.

Our Community Benefits team has been working closely with Cash for Kids to identify those most in need.

Through the charity, we have donated £3,550 to buy warm winter clothes for 80 children at Eyemouth Primary School and to help keep their Breakfast Club running for another 6 months.

As well as sponsoring the Clovenstone Kitchen food project at Edinburgh’s Clovenstone Primary, we have also been delivering a weekly supply of fresh fruit to the school for the pupils to take home, and this week we sent in an extra surprise of selection boxes too!

We were delighted to receive so many beautiful Christmas cards from the children to thank us for our support and we’d like to extend our thanks to Claire from Sainsbury’s at Straiton Retail Park, who kindly donated towards this special treat for the children.

We know that thousands of local children will be living in poverty this Christmas and have once again donated £2,000 to this year’s Cash for Kids Mission Christmas appeal.

The charity is working tirelessly to fulfil applications for gifts for over 21,000 children from Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife, Falkirk and the Scottish Borders this year.

Saltire was the first corporate to donate to both the Radio Forth and Radio Borders campaigns, giving £1,000 to each.

Cash donations enable the charity to buy presents for the age ranges they are short for, which at the moment is 0-3 years and age 9+.

Saltire Roofing & Building Managing Director, Steven McIntosh said:

“Saltire Roofing & Building proudly supports Cash for Kids Mission Christmas every year, and we’ve been the first company to donate to the appeal for the last two years because we know how much it matters. COVID-19 has impacted on all our lives and has put a further strain on families who were already struggling. We will continue to work with Cash for Kids to support more local children and their families in 2022.”
